Your cellphone is a government tracking device

Your cellphone is a double edged sword.

On one hand it is a tool that can be used as a phone, a calendar, to read your email, look at web-pages, for getting directions, etc. On the other hand it is a tracking device that can be used against you and to keep tabs on you.

All smartphones sold today come with built in GPS. You can use it to find your location and figure out how to get where you want to go. It can also be used to track your movements. As of the writing of this post (November, 2025) the average cell phone sold in North America has a GPS accuracy of between 5 and 10 meters (16 and 32 feet). This means the cell phone GPS can tell which side of the street you are standing on. With any number of special app installed on your phone your phone can be tracked and, in effect, you are being tracked.

Normally the tracking app has to be installed on your phone which means someone has to physically install the app. Most cell phones in North America are either iPhone, about 58% of the market, or Android which is about 41% reference link . Both iPhone and Android are alike in that there is a central repository for apps to be installed on your phone. These repository, either the app-store in the case of iPhone or Google Play in the case of Android phones. In both cases these app repositories are controlled by large corporations who have a vested interest in being on the States good side. If the FBI, or the CIA, or the NSA want a backdoor on their phones, the corporation will be only too happy to comply. Unless one is a skilled software engineer it is almost imposible to install an app on your phone or remove the backdoor that was installed at the behest of some 3 letter government agency.
